Notifications on your phone
This page answers: “How do I enable notifications on my phone?”
Two steps: install the Jiviq admin app on your home screen, then turn on alerts inside the app. It takes about two minutes. On iPhone and iPad the install step is not optional — Apple only allows notifications for web apps that are on your home screen, never for a browser tab.
Step 1 — Put Jiviq on your home screen
iPhone / iPad (Safari):
- Open app.jiviq.com in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Requires iOS 16.4 or later.
Android (Chrome):
- Open app.jiviq.com in Chrome and sign in.
- If an install banner appears at the bottom, tap Install. Otherwise open Chrome’s menu (three dots) and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
Either way, you get a Jiviq icon on your home screen. From now on, open the app from that icon, not from a browser tab.
Step 2 — Turn on alerts
- Open Jiviq from your home screen.
- Go to Settings → Chat settings (named Notifications & receipts on newer accounts) and find the Push notifications card.
- Click Turn on alerts.
- When your phone asks whether to allow notifications, tap Allow.
There’s also a bell icon at the top of the Chats page that toggles the same thing.
Alerts are per device. Repeat both steps on each phone or tablet where you want them. The same Turn on alerts button works in desktop browsers too — no install needed there.
What you’ll be alerted about
- New customer messages when you’re not in the app — even when the app is closed, backgrounded, or your screen is locked. If you or a teammate are actively reading the conversation, Jiviq skips the ping; the in-app sound and list update cover it.
- A quick burst of messages in one conversation collapses into a single notification instead of piling up a stack of them.
- Tapping the notification opens that conversation.
Notifications go to owners, admins, and members — the people who can reply. Viewers don’t receive them. See Add your team for what each role can do.
iPhone quirks worth knowing
- Notifications never work from a Safari tab. If you open app.jiviq.com in Safari on an iPhone, the app shows “Add to Home Screen” guidance instead of the Turn on alerts button. That’s expected — install first, then turn on alerts inside the installed app.
- If you delete the icon from your home screen, that device stops receiving alerts until you install and turn them on again.
If you tapped “Block” by mistake
Your browser remembers that choice and Jiviq won’t ask again. Allow notifications for the site in your browser settings (usually the lock icon in the address bar), reload the app, then click Turn on alerts again.
Email is the always-on backup
Even with push off, you never lose a message. When a customer writes and nobody from your team is in the app, Jiviq emails you a heads-up with a link to the conversation. Bursts collapse into one email, and an overnight message is still waiting in your inbox in the morning.
You control your own channels under Settings → Notifications:
- Mute all notifications — pause everything, email and push.
- Email — the durable record.
- Push — the real-time channel this page sets up.
These settings apply to you only, not your teammates. Each teammate turns on their own devices the same way.
There’s also an optional end-of-day email digest — a daily summary of conversation activity — which you can switch on from the same Settings → Chat settings page.
